Undoubtedly, private dentistry does cost more but in addition to often additional expertise go shorter waits for appointments, better equipment, cutting-edge materials and techniques. Many NHS dentists will offer private treatment when required and vice versa.

Dental Surgeries - both Private and NHS

42 St Giles' Dentists

42 St Giles', Oxford OX1 3LW, UK – 01865 310368

Fabulous! Both dentists are lovely, professional and prices are fair. Definitely recommend.

It's very rare to come by a good dentist these days, let alone an excellent one but Alastair and Wendy are both extremely professional and kind dentists who make you feel at home whilst in the chair!

Temple Street Dental Practice

26 Temple St, Oxford OX4 1JS, UK – 01865 922111

Can recommend very highly. Very efficient, excellent booking system with reminders and very high quality care. I was seen by Dr Tan who was absolutely brilliant.

I went to Temple Street Dental Practice a few weeks ago and have been meaning to post a review for a while. I hadn’t been to a dentist for years and thought I should! The service was great and the receptionist was very friendly. The dental care I received was very excellent - thank you Emily and Tas! I will definitely be going back there next time.

Studental Dental Practice - Oxford

Brookes University, Headington Campus, 3rd Floor, Colonnade Building, Headington Road, Headington, Oxford OX3 0BP, UK – 01865 689997

Been going to this dentist for many years and highly recommend. They are very polite, friendly and efficient. The reception staff are lovely, always greeted with a smile and helpfulness. The experience in the chair is always made easier by the friendliness and concern for your well-being from the dentists and assistants. Going to the dentist is never a pleasure, but Studental make the experience a lot less stressful than it could be.

The service from the staff was great, i'm very confident them. Really flexible appointment times. However, the lowest band cost is now £21.60 and for that i got a routine check up. the check up consisted of maybe 1 minute of nice small talk and "do you floss", and then 90 seconds of the dentist looking at my mouth and doing a quick gum check. It was efficient and my teeth were completely fine, but i feel a little bit cheated having paid £20+ for under 3 minutes of service. In the past they have offered me a quick extra clean or applied a varnish/gel to help prevent sensitive teeth which was nice. ( yes i understand that also covers the receptionists/other staff pay, and the cleaning of the gum prodding tool)

Dr Drury is outstanding in her care, both from a medical perspective and a personable one. Thank you for all the great work you do! The midwife Denise is also superb and lovely, as are all the receptionists and doctors I have encountered at this practice. So pleased to have across this practice.

NHS and Private Hospitals in OX1 and throughout Oxfordshire

John Radcliffe Hospital

Headley Way, Headington, Oxford OX3 9DU, UK – 0300 304 7777

Unfortunately I had the need to be admitted by ambulance to A &E last week. I was seen promptly and efficiently by a number of staff and treated professionally and personally. the tests and examinations were carried out in good time and I felt well treated and looked after. Unfortunately I cannot remember the names of the staff involved but they were all kind, understanding and efficient in a very pressurised environment. I thank them all and trust their superiors will see this. Thank you.

This Hospital is under a great deal of pressure most of the time. However the professionalism of the staff is superb. In my opinion there is not another hospital in the.country to match it.Compassionate and caring Staff. A wonderful AEU. NHS. You should be so proud of this brilliant Hospital...

Nuffield Health Oxford, The Manor Hospital

Beech Rd, Oxford OX3 7RP, UK – 01865 307777

Over the last few years I have been an outpatient, surgical inpatient and everything in between and so have experienced most of what this hospital has to offer. It has a culture where excellence is expected and delivered at every level. The facilities are kept spotlessly clean and hygienic, the nursing and ancillary staff are highly motivated, professional and genuinely caring, the consultants are among the best in the country, the rooms are comfortable and well furnished, the housekeeping first rate and the food imaginative, well prepared and tasty. The only weakness I have experienced is that twice outpatient reception did not tell the consultant I had arrived, resulting in an unnecessarily and overlong wait, but that's that's just about forgivable when compared to the overall consistently high standards delivered. I remain seriously impressed.

I had my first major surgery at the Manor Hospital to be put under general anaesthesia for a laparoscopic myomectomy. My surgeon was Dr Simon Jackson and anaesthetist was Dr Vivian Addy. I received a very high standard of care from them as well as the team of nurses who were very knowledgeable about post-surgery matters which were usually not told in great details to patients before the surgery. The food was delicious and the facilities were always cleaned with the highest standards. There were too many nurses who attended to me so I cannot remember many names but one nurse (Erica Su) spent some time talking to me prior to the surgery which put me at ease. After being discharged, I actually missed the nurses. But overall very glad to have survived the surgery with no major complications. To me, Dr Simon Jackson is a world class top surgeon and I feel fortunate that he was able to perform the surgery for me. I hope my review can help other women who are unsure about getting their fibroids removed.

Clinic 95

Very thankful to Clinic 95 for my dental care. I always find everyone very helpful and the service is 5 star! The practice itself is clean and modern and it has a relaxing feel with candles and nice music. I always come away with a smile. I would recommend the practice to everybody (I do on a regular basis)

I would highly recommend Clinic 95 as I was a very nervous patient and didn't like going to the dentist before going to Clinic 95. As soon as you walk in you are made to feel welcome by Sarah and her team of receptionists. For about 2 years now I have been seen by Ben and Lewis who are very professional and calming, they also explain the process in simple terms that I can understand. I have to attend regularly for hygiene appointments with Ben and I really don't mind going now. Thank you.

Helix House Natural Health Centre

15 Warwick St, Oxford OX4 1SZ, UK – 01865 243351

In 1997 I had chronic sciatica and would barely walk. After a year of acute pain, I was introduced to Clive who after a few appointments had worked miracles. I recently had a bad back and returned to see Clive who once again put things right. I live in Essex so a bit of a trek to get to Oxford but it's without doubt worth the effort.

Susan Farwell has great skill in assisting natural growth and development in my son whose dental problems involved dental braces and osteopathy to secure normal bite. I would recommend the care at Helix House to anyone with a child.

Everyone made a great effort to make mum feel comfortable. We especially appreciated Christine's efforts to entertain us all, though the karaoke singing was pretty dreadful.

My accupuncturist Sam Manning is just amazing. I don't see her very often but when I do she gets it right eveytime. Thanks Sam xx Totally recommended.

Excellent experience!! I came to James with a constant twitching eye problem and he fixed it completely in 4 sessions. He has a relaxed manner that immediately puts you at ease and he explains the procedure every step of the way. I would have no hesitation in recommending him. Thanks James!

Sandy Steele MA (Oxon), LicAc, MBAcC

Cannot recommend Sandy or her practice more highly. Very caring, approachable professionals, with a holistic approach that has successfully treated both muscular and wider health issues in our family.

very detailed initial consultation that allowed Sandy to fully understand what my problem areas were and what she needed to do to help. Amazing results, would definitely recommend for physical, mental and emotional symptoms.

To Be Healthy - Golden Cross Walk

Golden Cross Walk, 5 Cornmarket St, Oxford OX1 3EU, UK – 01865 791833

the doctor seems to know what he does. friendly, but it only took him less than 5 minutes to work the needles, and less than 10 mins at the end for a quick rub/massage. got too little for the £40 spent, IMO. i went there for back pain and the treatment seemed to have helped. but then he tried to get me to buy medicines.

This place has been my good value go to place for years. Consistantly helped me and friends and family. Sometimes with amazing results.

Central Chiropractic Clinic

North Hinksey Lane, Old Botley, Oxford OX2 0JW, UK – 01865 204246

Anthony and the team have always excelled in providing effective treatment and good advice. Everyone in the practice makes it feel very welcoming, from on the phone making an appointment, arriving or being treated. Cant recommend them highly enough.

I have been visiting Caroline at the Central Chiropractic Clinic for around 10 years, and I couldn't recommend anyone more highly. I'd go as far as saying each visit in enjoyable, knowing that I will walk out of there feeling far more relaxed and comfortable than when I went in! The clinic also has a very friendly reception team, who are really prompt in dealing with enquiries and bookings.

Beaumont Street Chiropractic Clinic

2, 30 Beaumont St, Oxford OX1 2NY, UK – 01865 311871

I've been to a few chiropractors and rate Dr Fiona's care as one of the best. She takes her time and realy gets to the bottom of what's going on with your body before starting treatments. Every visit is different but I always leave the praxis feeling better than before :) Friendly staff! 5 Star clinic.

I sought chiropractic treatment due to the frequent headaches, back pain and bad posture that I have been experiencing for a long while. Ever since I started treatment at the clinic, I have noticed positive changes over the past few months. Dr. Pim pays close attention to how I am feeling before each session and is meticulous and careful as she carries out the adjustments. I would highly recommend the Beaumont Street Chiropractic Clinic to anyone who is considering giving chiropractic care a try.

Plested Nicola

2 Sunningwell Rd, Oxford OX1 4SX, UK – 01865 245000

Having had back pain for 40 years and seen many therapists, it has been a great relief to find Nicola. Nicola has never failed to ease the pain. She is also a truly holistic therapist, paying attention to the whole body and giving excellent advice. As prevention is better than cure I try to have a treatment every few months to keep my alignment which works wonders. I have no hesitation in recommending Nicola.

Have been here for the Brookes Engage course. The JHB building is very modern and well kept and the staff are great. I'm now a undergraduate student here studying CS and I'm really enjoying it. I particularly like the fact that most modules have a large coursework component. It's not for everyone but it suits my learning style very well.

Specsavers Opticians Oxford

33 Queen St, Oxford OX1 1ER, UK – 01865 255710

Specsavers Oxford are amazing. It was my first time buying specs and the staff (Jenny and Sophie in particular) took the time to help me find the best frames.. which meant trying on pretty much every pair in the store, while having a giggle! I'd recommend them to anyone. Great prices too!

They offer variety of specs with a variety of frames. Once you book you will go for an eye test then you will be guided to pick up a glass after thorough eye tests. Although expensive, they offer discounts on pairs. Don’t get their treatment for having dry eyes it was a total waste of money and time.

Specsavers Opticians Cowley

119 Pound Way, Templars Square Shopping Centre, Oxford, Cowley OX4 3YA, UK – 01865 773344

Incredibly helpful optometrist did all he could to get the maximum reduction on some frames I wanted to buy. Very friendly, very honest. All other who worked there were incredibly efficient, professional and good natured. Thanks guys!

Super helpful members of staff. Made some good recommendations (for glasses and contacts) that helped me rather than made them more money, which shows great customer service. I’ve been going to this opticians for many years and they’ve always been fantastic.

Conway P B Opticians

44-46 George St, Oxford OX1 2AQ, UK – 01865 244667

What fantastic staff! I broke my glasses and had no spare pair, I needed a quick replacement pair - tried vision express but no joy. Came in to Conway’s and the two lovely ladies could not have been more helpful. Took my broken glasses and fitted my existing lenses to new frames in less than 30 minutes, and the cost was far less than I anticipated. Proper customer service and a real eagerness to help, thank you so much!

I've been a long-term customer of Conway Opticians in George Street Oxford and am always impressed by their level of professionalism, attention to detail and brilliant customer care. They also have a very good eye for the right pair of specs - It's hard choosing the right frames, but their patience knows no bounds when it comes to helping indecisive customers like me. I can't recommend Conway Opticians highly enough.

Osteopaths

Central Oxford Osteopathy

15 Hollybush Row, Oxford OX1 1JH, UK – 01865 236353

Really great treatment. Fantastic for easing exam stress. Very professional service and useful advice for stretches to continue the healing process after I left.

Friendly and professional staff, after several sessions i was pain free and have been, for several months now - would definitely recommend.

Oxford Osteopaths

235 Cowley Rd, Oxford OX4 1XG, UK – 01865 790235

I had a 40 minute session with Kelston a couple of weeks ago. The man is a genius and a gentleman. Very friendly, makes you feel at home and is also a genius at what he does. He also gave me a list of stretches to do which have been a great help. Do yourself a favour and see these guys - you truly won't regret it.

I went to Marion Vey for pain in back, neck and chest and a tingling feeling out in my left arm. I could feel great results after just one appointment and even better after the second. I have been to doctors and they have given me ibuprofen and been told to rest. Instead, this helped me so much and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for an osteopath. Marion is very nice and welcoming and the price is very affordable.

Kennington Osteopathic Practice

Kennington Village Centre, Kennington Rd, Kennington, Oxford OX1 5PG, UK – 07787 404419

I have been seeing Hannah for a few months now, once a week. I’ve been really impressed with her continuous caring and professional approach during my sessions. This is a really great little practice that gives you a comfortable and personal feel. They are always so passionate to get you back to feeling better. The added bonus is that you are able to book your appointments online, quick and easy. Highly recommend Hannah and Sophie.

Physiotherapy in OX1

Spires Physiotherapy

Interzone House, 74 Magdalen Rd, Oxford OX4 1RE, UK – 07720 883069

I was referred to Spires Physiotherapy following a road traffic accident with whiplash-related injuries to my neck, back and shoulder. I found the treatment I received to be both thorough and professional, and hugely beneficial. The exercises prescribed took into consideration my physical limitations, yet challenged me enough to regain mobility at a good rate. I found the service to be informed and engaging. Each time I finished a session I felt noticeably better. What impressed me the most about Spires Physiotherapy was its clear emphasis on rehabilitation. Never once did I feel that my sessions would need to carry on indefinitely, or that the pace of treatment was too slow. Each session was paced well, and I understood the part it played in my overall recovery. I offer my strongest recommendation to Spires Physiotherapy. The treatment I received from chartered physiotherapist, Joseph Korge, was outstanding. I was consistently impressed with his knowledge, professionalism, interpersonal abilities, and compassion. Additionally, his previous experience with sports injuries (for professional sports teams) and his active research status are extremely impressive, and are evident in the high-quality treatment I experienced. An exemplary service. I've started running again, and hope to enter races again before too long!

Went to Joe ahead of my first marathon. Before I had even started training he worked out where problem areas might be and designed a stretch/exercise schedule to strengthen these areas. Two weeks before the marathon I suffered awful shin splints and Joe gave me great advice and exercises to do in advance to get me through the day. Post marathon, he helped identify the wear and tear on my body (not just legs!) and I was able to recover fully. Would definitely recommend.

The Physio Practice

Oxsrad Sports Centre, Marsh Ln, Oxon, Oxford OX3 0NQ, UK – 07765 245505

I have attended both the intermediate and advanced physio classes here for 3 terms. They are both EXCELLENT classes. They are very technical with clear instructions. The pace of the lesson is very good, with no gaps between explanations. I am never bored! Additionally, the teacher offers a variety of options so that if you are able to push yourself further, you can but if you are finding it difficult, you can stick on a lower level. I have also experienced fewer back problems, and I am fairly confident this is due to being stronger from the class. Very highly recommended.

Professional and effective. I have had physio treatment from David for past 3 years whenever I have issues and he has been able to sort my problems out quickly and effectively. I also attend Pilates classes run by Will and these are great hard work, professionally taught with individual needs and quality of the exercises attended to. I highly recommend this physio practice for all your physio needs.

John is inspirational, with the use of his NLP linking techniques; so that you can remember more advanced Physiological and Anatomical information. The afternoon was indeed great fun and located in the very civilized setting of Oxford. Could not stop learning and laughing. Now booked on the Rock Blades course because of John! Highly Recommend

I was lucky to come across Suzanne’s reflexology in my 3rd pregnancy and have found it hugely beneficial. It has helped relieve stress, balance my hormones, and eases aches & pains. Suzanne’s treatments are always wonderfully calming, relaxing and I sleep amazingly after I have been to see her. A very personalized, caring and highly professional experience. I have recommended her to all my friends and family.

I have been treated by Suzanne for the past two and a half years. I have a physical job which causes a lot of discomfort. Aches and pains were daily particularly through my two pregnancies. Having refelexolgy has rebalanced my hormones and relieved a lot of physical wear and tear. It has helped considerably with circulation and completely stopped me suffering with ongoing leg cramps. A very personalised, professional, refreshing experience I highly recommend this service.
